Emma Stauber

Mirage Girls Hockey Head Coach

Coach Emma Stauber

Meet Coach Stauber:

Coming into her third season as head coach for the PH Mirage, Emma Stauber brings a portfolio of knowledge that includes a long history of player and coaching experience, a mentality for what it means to be a student athlete, and a goal to share her passion with the younger generation and continue to help grow the game.

During her second season as head coach for the PH Mirage, history was made as Stauber lead the 2020-2021 team to their first ever Minnesota State High School Girls Hockey Class A Championship with a perfect 21-0 record. Under Stauber's leadership, the Mirage have appeared in two Section 7A Championships, winning it in 2021, attained two Lake Superior Conference Championships in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and earned the MGHCA Section 7A Team Academic Championship and the MGHCA State 7A Team Academic Championship in 2020-21. Through two seasons with the Mirage, Stauber's overall head coaching record is 40-9-0 heading into the 2021-22 season.

As a player, Stauber was a varsity defensemen for the Mirage from 2006-2011, where she excelled on the blue line. She currently holds the record for the most points scored as a defensemen for the Mirage and helped lead them to their first ever Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament appearance in 2010. From there, she went on to play her collegiate hockey career in her hometown of Duluth for the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs Women’s Hockey Team. During her four years at UMD from 2011 to 2015, she played a steady, stay at home defensive role. She was an assistant captain her junior year and co-captain her senior year, which is a testament to her leadership both on and off the ice. After college, Stauber started her professional hockey career in Sweden with HV71 before returning home to join the Minnesota Whitecaps for their inaugural season in the National Women’s Hockey League. As a Whitecap, she helped the team take home their first ever Isobel Cup Championship in 2018-2019.

Off the ice, Emma obtained a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a Masters in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University.
